Our world is permeated by digital technologies and socio-technical practices. Phenomena such as exponential data growth, algorithm-based decision making and machine learning, which are brought together under the term big data, require a broad, public and critical discussion. In recent years, many artists have made Big Data the theme of their work.
The new series of lectures Art & Algorithms, conceived in cooperation with the University of Cologne and the Grimme Institute, will present a selected artistic work on the subject of Big Data in the NRW-Forum from autumn 2018, which will subsequently be flanked by impulses and discussed with the public. The series is sponsored by the Grimme Research College at the University of Cologne.
