The opening concert for the NRW Forum feature four acts at once: The duo Stefan Schneider (electronics)/ Seven Kacirek (percussion) present the classics of Steve Reich. The Ivorian balaphone virtuoso Aly Keita celebrates minimalism’s African roots. SIGNUM saxophone quartet mixes improvisitions with the music of György Ligeti, Steve Reich, and Michael Nyman. And a piano trio from Berlin pays homage to the ecstatic post-minimalist Julius Eastman—one of the most important rediscoveries of recent years.
